As part of my new commitment as a Trustee of Verity is to start giving you monthly updates and PCOS and it’s reported research and news activity. Hopefully this will also cast a light and how little publicity it gets as a syndrome and the type of publicity that it does get.

Low BMI linked to higher incidence of hyperandrogegism, High BMI linked to higher incidence of Insulin Resistance
A recent study (June 2014) found that those with a healthy to low BMI (27 or below) had a higher incidence of hyperandrogegism – acne and irregular periods; whereas those with a high BMI showed higher incidence of insulin resistance, putting them at risk of type 2 diabetes.
PCOS lady dances her way to health and fitness
A lady from Greensboro, North Carolina recently took part in the TLC documentary ‘My Big Fat Fabulous Life’. Being a larger lady with PCOS she has had much criticism for her size, however she is extremely activity and quite a good dancer. She has used the documentary as a platform to debunk the large is lazy myth, highlight the effects of PCOS and to empower others who feel guilty or ashamed of their bodies.

Nicole the Fertile Chick
Nicole writes the blog The Fertile Chick as she struggled to become pregnant and was then diagnosed with PCOS. A recent article tells her story and how she has found that many friends and family members are being diagnosed with PCOS, but how this doesn’t always mean that you can’t have children.
Flaxseed supplementation for PCOS
A recent article in The Raw Food World News highlights the benefits of adding to flaxseed to your diet. It cites a study published in the Current Topics journal that found that supplementing with flaxseed reduced hisutism and weight in women with PCOS.
