Depression is found to be twice as prevalent in patients with diabetes as in the general population.  (Moulton, C D et al 2015).  As women with PCOS appear to have an increased risk of having Diabetes this finding could help identify the origins of both conditions and in doing so improve clinical diagnosis and management of depression in patients with diabetes.  The article is available here

A study published in American Journal of Clinical Nutrition explored the idea that a diet high in sugar may be linked to depression risk in postmenopausal women.  The study, carried out by James E Gangwisch, PhD, of Columbia University, and colleagues concluded that results from their study suggested that high-GI diets could be a risk factor for depression in postmenopausal women.
