Are acne, hair loss and/or excess hair, any of your PCOS symptoms? Would you like to view yourself more positively? If so, please read on…

Hi, my name is Kate Adkins. I am a Trainee Clinical Psychologist at the University of Sheffield, interested in the impact of skin conditions.

I would like to invite you to take part in an online randomised control trial, aimed at testing whether a 1-week online writing intervention could improve body image in adults with living with a range of dermatological conditions.

Who can take part?

Anyone (age 18+), living with a skin condition (including conditions that affect the skin, hair, and/or nails) that negatively affects how they feel about themselves.

What will it involve?

  • You will be asked to anonymously answer questions about your skin and your body image.
  • You will then be asked to complete three writing tasks over the course of 1 week. The focus of these writing exercises will depend on whether you are randomly allocated to the intervention or an alternative series of writing tasks (the placebo).
  • After completing the final task, you will be asked to provide feedback and complete questions about your body image.

As a thank you for completing the study you will be offered the opportunity to enter a prize draw to win a £50 voucher of your choice.
