Research request: Help us test a resistance training programme for people with PMOS

The below blog post has been written by the research team, and details of how to participate in the research can be found at the bottom of this post. Verity have sighted the ethics approval granted for the recruitment of this study. Please note that the condition previously known as PCOS is now referred to as PMOS; some researchers and clinicians may still use the term PCOS during this transition period.

We are researchers at Cardiff Metropolitan University. We are looking for individuals with PMOS/PCOS to take part in a study about resistance (weight) training.

We think that resistance exercise might be beneficial for people with PCOS in controlling blood pressure and improving the function of blood vessels.

We are asking you to:

  • Take part in a free 12-week programme of resistance exercise under the guidance of a qualified coach. One session per week will be held at Cardiff Metropolitan University. The other sessions can be done at the University, at home or at your local gym.
  • Complete some heath checks and tests of blood vessel function before and after the 12-week programme.

You will be reimbursed for your time and travel expenses. For more information, email Dr Zoe Adams at zadams@cardiffmet.ac.uk
