The below blog post has been written by the research team, and details of how to participate in the research can be found at the bottom of this post. Verity have sighted the ethics approval granted for the recruitment of this study. Please note that the condition previously known as PCOS is now referred to as PMOS; some researchers and clinicians may still use the term PCOS during this transition period.
Help Shape PMOS Research: Join A Lived Experience Advisory Board
Research about PMOS should be shaped by the people who live with it. We are looking for individuals with PMOS to join a small advisory board and help ensure an ongoing PhD research project reflects what really matters to the community
About the Study
This PhD research is exploring whether experiences of PMOS diagnosis and care differ depending on where people live in England. Before data collection begins, we want to ensure the research materials are shaped by people with lived experience of the condition, not just by academics. The advisory board will review and give feedback on draft materials before they are used, helping to ensure the research asks the right questions in a way that feels relevant and respectful. The study has full ethical approval from the University of Chester
What’s Involved?
- Up to two online sessions via Microsoft Teams, each lasting approximately 90 minutes
- Approximately 30 minutes of preparation per session to review draft materials
- Feedback on the questionnaire and focus group topic guide before they are used
- Payment of £27.50 per hour in line with NIHR guidance on PPI reimbursement. Please note that if you are in receipt of welfare benefits, payment may affect your entitlement – further information will be provided on request
Who Can Take Part?
- Aged 18 or over
- A diagnosis of PCOS/PMOS
- Have sought or received healthcare in relation to this condition as a resident in England
- No specialist knowledge or prior research experience required – just your experience of living with PMOS
Why Take Part?
Your voice matters. By joining the advisory board you will help ensure that this research reflects the real priorities and experiences of people living with PMOS, and that the findings contribute to improving care for everyone with the condition.
