Monthly Update: Fundraising

As a charity we rely heavily on money raised by our members to keep us going. Our main aim is, of course, to raise awareness of PCOS and to support those with it, but in order to do that money plays a big part. Over the past year we have had many of you raise money for us and this has been a huge help. Below is a summary of some fundraising that’s been going on over the past year:

August 2013: Armpits4August
These lovely ladies have been raising funds for Verity for the past couple of years and have been battling societies attitudes towards women and hair. In the month of August they let their underarm hair grow free and get sponsored for it… Movember eat your heart out! Later in the year a few of the ladies also came along to our London conference and we’re really looking forward to what happens next.

November 2013: TJ, Joanne, Paul and Laura
These very brave people shaved their heads in order to raise hundreds of pounds for Verity and  donated the hair to the Princes Trust. On top of that they tied it all into PCOS Awareness week.

March 2014: Annika McDonald
Annika ran the Cambridge Half Marathon and raised £259.20 for Verity in the process.

April 2014: Ashley-Jane Holmes
In April Ashley-Jane, a hairdresser, shaved her hair off to raise awareness and funds for Verity. SO far she has raised £260 but her target was £500 you can still donate using the above link.

May 2014: Karen Figgitt
Recently Karen, our Dorset Group leader, organised a sponsored hair cut and bake sale with her local hairdresser. She raised £430 and got in the local paper to raise awareness of PCOS. Read more here.

A massive thanks to all those who have raised money for us so far, but there’s still a long way to go to getting the funds we need to plough into research. Keep an eye out for fundraising events that you can all take part in soon!
